4-day Youth Summer Camp - Explorers

Daily Bring lunch, dress in layers, including a non-cotton base layer to be worn under comfortable clothes, a warm layer, and a wind breaker as an outer layer. Bring a change of clothes. If own a shorty wetsuit bring it in case it is windy. Soft soled tennis shoes or boating shoes required. Simple Garden Gloves with finger tips cut or real sailing gloves help. Please bring and wear sunscreen, a bill or brimmed hat and sunglasses. (Youth get headaches if out in the sun for hours without such protection.)

Day 1 is an El Toro skill advance. Includes skills advance of first refresh sailing through marks forwards then learn to sail back wards. Docking and getting under way from a dock under sail. End the day with a series of more advanced sailing games with each player in their own boat. Day 2 sail Bauer 12 and Montgomery 15 introduction. Perhaps add the Capris 14s. to get time in 2 person 2 sail boats. Day three learn about tides and currents then with Leader guidence pick an destination to adventure out of the channel to sail up or down the Estuary to that destination and return. Day 4 Pick your boats to sail a multi stop treasure hunt and return for a BBQ to end the week.
